Application of Tungsten Carbide Nozzles
In our daily production of precision machining, we can see a very small component, nozzle. Although it’s very small, it plays the indispensable roles. It’s widely used in the equipment of all kinds of spraying, mist spraying, oil spraying, sandblasting, painting.
Due to the merits of wear-resistance, longer lifespan, cost-effective on tungsten carbide nozzles, it’s seen in the surface treatment, oil, and chemistry industries.
Sandblasting equipment is powered by compressed air and uses a high-speed jet to spray the material onto the surface of the workpiece, achieving the purpose of surface treatment. Compared with other material nozzles, such as steel nozzles, tungsten carbide nozzles have higher hardness, strength, and wear and corrosion resistance, which can better meet the requirements of application conditions.
In the process of oil drilling, it is generally in a relatively harsh environment, so the nozzle needs to withstand the high-speed impact of high-pressure abrasive during operation, which makes it more prone to wear and failure. Ordinary materials are prone to thermal deformation or cracking, requiring frequent nozzle replacement, which reduces work efficiency. tungsten carbide nozzles can effectively improve this situation due to their high hardness, high strength, and excellent wear and corrosion resistance.
The nozzle of coal water slurry mainly bears the low angle erosion of coal water slurry during operation, and the wear mechanism is mainly plastic deformation and micro cutting. Compared to water coal slurry nozzles made of other metal materials, tungsten carbide material nozzles have better wear and corrosion resistance and a longer service life (usually over 1000 hours). However, tungsten carbide have high brittleness, and their hardness, toughness, and thermal shock resistance are lower than other metal materials. They are not easy to process and are not suitable for making nozzles with complex shapes and structures.
Tungsten carbide atomization nozzles can be divided into pressure atomization, rotary atomization, electrostatic atomization, ultrasonic atomization, and bubble atomization. Compared with other types of nozzles, cemented carbide nozzles can achieve spray effect without air compressor. Their atomization shape is generally circular or fan-shaped, with good atomization effect and wide coverage. They are widely used in agricultural production spraying and industrial manufacturing spraying, dust removal and humidification.
