Tungsten Carbide Button

Tungsten carbide is used in numerous industries including mining, road construction, metal tooling, machining shops, and in various pieces of equipment where a metal harder than steel is necessary. Tungsten Carbide Buttons is widely used in oil drilling, and shoveling snow, snow plow machines and other equipment.Also used to drill for coal, mining tools and road sweeping and snow removal and road maintenance tools. In a quarry,Mining and tunneling using tools, as well as residential buildings.

Product Description

Tungsten carbide ball buttons are hard alloy components made by sintering tungsten carbide (WC) particles and cobalt (Co) metal bonded phase through powder metallurgy technology. Their shape is mostly hemispherical, parabolic or flat cylindrical (similar to “buttons”), with a diameter usually between 8-25mm. They are embedded on the surface of drill bits, milling tools or crusher hammers, achieving efficient crushing, drilling or milling operations through high-frequency impact or rotary cutting.

Core Performance Advantages

1. Hardness and Wear Resistance:

    Hardness: The hardness of tungsten carbide matrix is as high as HRA 88-93 (equivalent to HRC 80 or above), second only to diamond, and its wear resistance is 50-100 times that of tool steel.

    Wear resistance mechanism: WC grains (0.3-2 μ m) are uniformly distributed in the cobalt matrix, forming a composite structure of “hard skeleton+toughness network” to resist abrasive wear and fatigue peeling.

    2. Impact resistance:

    Adjusting the cobalt content (usually 6-15%) can optimize toughness:

    Low cobalt (6-8%): High hardness, suitable for homogeneous hard rocks such as granite.

    High cobalt content (10-15%): Improved impact resistance, suitable for working conditions with cracks or high vibration.

    3. Economy:

    Comparison of lifespan:

    Traditional steel teeth: lifespan of about 50-100 hours;

    Tungsten carbide ball teeth: The lifespan can reach 300-1000 hours, reducing the frequency of tooth replacement and downtime losses.

    Single operation cost: The comprehensive cost of tungsten carbide ball teeth is 40% -60% lower than that of steel teeth.
